Please, tell me the answer. PM if you must, I won't share the answer with anyone else--promise.
FWIW, my theory is that the painter had a fear of children being stolen and/or his own kidnapping. But I am very unhappy with this theory, and I have a wedding to get to today, so please tell me the answer so that I won't be utterly distracted all day. Thank you in advance, thank you so very much.
