tuq mentioned it, and it's not my personal favorite, but I think "All in the family" needs another nod.

I think a good measurement of these shows is whther they could hold their own in syndication ten years later. Seinfeld and the Simpson's are only rivaled by Saved by the Bell in the amount of airtime they get in syndication. Of course, so is everybody Loves Raymond, and that show is terrible.

I don't see Family Guy holding it's own 10 years from now like the Simpson's has done.

family guy is great. did anyone notice how simpsons has started to try to do that thing family guy does where it says "like that time chris tried to join the circus (or whatever)"... and then has some cutaway. simpsons needs to go away now. so unfunny i had to turn it off half way through last time. but it was great like 8 years ago.

i want to put in my vote for "news radio".
phil hartman = comedy genius.
