To those of you against checking the turn, please list the factors in this hand that make exercising some pot control suboptimal. Or if you prefer, concoct a similar situation in which pot control would be more appropriate. I think that would help both me and OP.

[/ QUOTE ] When I 3-bet AK PF and hit the flop perfectly (e.g. here), pot control is usually the last thing on my mind. If you raised like KJ in the CO and got a decent TPGK flop, checking behind a safe turn might be a good spot for pot control. Make sense?

Letting a free card drop is terrible. I understand that you want pot control. Bet like 1/2 the pot or something. Don't let him draw for free. Also, you are in position so that would make it easier for me to bet the turn here.
