I do think GW is being a bit too sensitive here.

I think specific racist attacks at other posters should = banz0r. However, there is room for some seemling "racist" remarks expecially when they make fun of the people who actually take these comments seriously.

I mean come on GW, you saw Borat. Seemingly anti-semetic comments actually do the best job in making fun of these ridiculous prejudices.

For everyone ragging on Gildwulf, this no racism policy is a 2+2 policy. It's likely the admins had a little talk with GW and told him to do it. As the self-appointed 2+2 racism expert, I'm surprised this wasn't obvious before. You're not going to get away with making racist comments.

2+2 policy or not, that doesn't make it any less hypocritical.

I read an interesting thought the other day concerning that guy who murdered the amish school kids a couple of months ago. He separated the girls from the boys and just shot girls.

Now if he'd seperated afro-americans, or jews, or hispanics or whatever (of course this would have to be some non-amish school) from the whitey's and just shot the minorities it would've been a huge factor in the news coverage.

But essentially nobody commented on the fact that only girls were targeted in this murder spree. Misogyny and violence against women doesn't even make it onto our radar screens anymore its so common.

Look this isn't to get on a soapbox. Heck, I like to beat my wife just as much as the next guy. And as I said above, I think, within certain bounds, all the idiotic comments should be allowed.

But I'm certainly anti-hypocrisy. Racism is not a small problem in our country, but I think its much less pre-valent than various forms of misogyny, if only because there are so many more opportunities to engage in misogynistic behavior.

I think any survey of the contents of these boards comparing the frequency of racist comments versus comments derogatory to women, would find the latter far far outnumber the racist comments.

Its good to see we have our priorities straight when it comes to our banning policies, though.

this policy is nothing new. however, its hilarious that they point out the hypocrisy by themselves and still stand by the policy.

It sucks to pick out one form of "prejudice" (I laugh at that term) as more offensive than another. If you're going to put the smack down about anti-semitism, don't you have to do the same for any type of "niggaplz" or "ORRY?" comments. It's all the same right?

Really, from watching posts it's pretty easy to tell who's being out-and-out racist, and who's making a joke (even those in poor taste). If there isn't going to be any active moderation where judgment is important, why not just put these offensive terms into the profanity filter?
