I didn't have stats on villain at the table, but they seems really laggy [looked up later to be 65/30/1 over 80ish hands].
Limit Holdem Ring game 6 players Converter Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is Button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, CO calls, Hero raises, SB calls, BB 3-bets, 2 folds, CO calls, Hero calls, SB calls. Flop: 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (10SB, 4 players) SB checks, BB bets, CO calls, Hero calls, SB calls. Turn: T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (7BB, 4 players) SB checks, BB bets, CO calls, Hero calls, SB calls. River: 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (11BB, 4 players) SB checks, BB bets, CO folds, Hero calls? I only called the flop because it was very drawy and the pot was large so I wasn't folding anyone at incorrectly, so I figured I'd call and reevaluate. The turn wasn't great but it wasn't the worst card I could have. I don't think it improved villain's range much and I think CO is just calling down with a draw. I plan to call down and get out if/when CO wakes up or if A/K draw comes through. With the river I stick to it and call. It feels like I should have put some more action in here somewhere. |

I raise flop, to make SB pay two. And see if BB 3bets, and probably fold if he leads turn.
River is an easy call imo. |

Raise the flop to try to knock out SB, and possibly CO because if villain 3-bets it will face CO with 2 cold. If villain has an overpair then you have 6 outs so you will have to call the turn anyway. If the villain is laggy then I will probably call the river because they will be on a missed heart draw with overcards often enough to be profitable.

I think you played the hand prefectly. You're not strong enough to make a hand protection play (not really in position for it) and getting 3-bet just sucks.

you have an over pair vs a LAGGY guy ... I think a flop raise is alright (forces SB's hand ... and these LAGGY guys will sometimes 3bet AK here, which would force CO's hand)
(what would CO be calling with) On your hand after calling the turn there is no reason not to call the river (it's not like this guy will stop betting) |

[/ QUOTE ] At that point you're going to be getting somewhere around 8.5:1 with what is probably a 6 out draw. Folding to the turn bet would seem pretty bad? Even if CO and/or SB stayed in, you have to discount the outs more but you'd be getting 10+:1. |

Is the pre flop action correct? By my count there should be 14 small bets in the pot when the flop comes out. It says there's only 10. If there are in fact 14 in the pot, then you're giving the small blind 9 to 1 if you raise...so he's probably correct to call. So I think you are correct to just call the flop. If the pot were smaller you could raise in this spot. Also, pre flop, if 3 players have limped already, I tend not to raise w the nines. It's gonna very hard to win a huge multi-way pot without hitting a set. But if the pot is smaller it's much easier to protect your hand on the flop.
As played, you have the option to protect your hand on the turn. Raise the turn to charge the draws, and take the free showdown at the river. It'll cost you the same as calling down, and you charge draws the maximum. And if you do improve on the river, you get to bet again. |

Calling the flop to see a favorable turn card in this large pot isn't a bad idea. If you do that and a decent card like the T falls a turn raise is called for. You can then decide on the river to value bet or not.
