That probably would have ended the session if I hadn't won. King Jax may makea increasingly frequent appearances.

Nice table.

I hate poker. Last night 3-tabling 1/2 I dropped 38BB's over 210 hands. Sickest short-term run I've ever had.

Lost an 18 BB pot when my flopped trips paid off someone elses BETTER flopped-trips all the way down.

Minutes later, flopped the nut flush against 5 opponents and pumped the pot all the way through and lost to a rivered boat. That was a 27BB pot.

If I take these pots I'm up 7BB's over 200 hands, which is "par". Instead I drop $77 in about an hour and 10 minutes. Oh well, looking forward to the UPSWING of variance...

See my NC post on a few pages ago, the one where I hit the rush.

I was seriously considering giving up poker (seriously, but not for bonuses/fun) during the downswing.

When you cap preflop with KK and build a huge multiway pot and a guy with Q4o who cold called 3 bets preflop catches runner runner 4's to win the pot you just think "Why bother? What's the point? etc."

Variance is a biatch.

[/ QUOTE ]

I had given up poker... my September was such a lousy month and I was so tired of losing to 2-outters, yada yada. I'm sure we've heard it all before.

Tried to come back once before and was doing well until a -35BB night (I know, no big deal really) where I got sucked out a number of times pissed me off and sent me to the showers again.

Getting the itch again, and trying to come back again... sigh.

Then this happens last night:

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
2 folds, CO calls, Button calls, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (4 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero bets, BB calls, CO folds, Button folds.

Turn: (3 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, BB calls.

River: (5 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, BB raises, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 9 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has Ac 7d (one pair, aces).
BB has 9s 9c (three of a kind, nines).
Outcome: BB wins 9 BB.

But later...

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is SB with K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. CO posts a blind of $0.50.
1 fold, MP calls, CO (poster) checks, Button calls, Hero completes, BB raises, MP calls, CO folds, Button calls, Hero calls.

Flop: (9 SB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero bets, BB raises, MP calls, Button folds, Hero calls.

Turn: (7.50 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, MP calls, Hero calls.

River: (10.50 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, MP calls, Hero raises, BB calls, MP folds.

Final Pot: 15.50 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has Kh 6h (two pair, kings and sixes).
BB has Ks Ac (one pair, kings).
Outcome: Hero wins 15.50 BB.

And he complains about it. I say, 'Payback for that set of 9's'. He says, 'I had you preflop on the 9's, genius'.

'I had you preflop, genius.' Who is this guy, Phil Hellmuth? So when you're ahead pre-flop you can completely ignore post-flop odds?

Lessee... his chances to improve with the 9's was about what, 9.6% (from PokerStove), and my chances were 11% (again from PokerStove, but I was at least closer to correct odds on my flop/turn call than he was, and I wasn't terribly sure I was beat)?

KO

Hey KO,

It looks like you're having a bit of extended tilt. You can fold the first hand. It's a relatively small pot, and all you have is TP. And the second hand - why chat? And why do you care what he thinks? Isn't it good that his thinking is off?

Your thought process is really what leads me to believe you're not thinking clearly. It's just my opinion, though. You know yourself better than I do.

In the second hand when did you think your kicker was good? Do you never give people credit for flushes?
