Just be careful eating live octopus. I've never done it, but I hear choking isn't uncommon.
Re Koreans being cheap: I can't think of too many cultures that have socially mandated generosity built into them to the extent Korean culture does. Anyone who has been out with a group of Koreans when the restaurant/bar bill comes knows what I mean. I used to notice that older parties at Korean restaurants were brought more panchan than younger parties, but even that seems to be disappearing, probably due to the waitstaff realizing that the younger patrons tip better. I'll be sure to think of all y'all as I eat dinner in NYC K-town tonight. I feel like having me some budae jigae. |
