Agreed, the poker scene was absurd. Even from a moral standpoint, I would think Hiro would be against cheating another player rather than the casino.

It does seem somewhat believable though, his friend seems to have an easy time pushing him around and it was clear he was going to gamble anyway regardless of whether he got help.
