But If I was playing outside of my means, say on vacation, and worked up a $500 into a 5K stack would I think twice if this situation came up? Probably, you shouldnt gamble with somthing you can't stand to lose. [/ QUOTE ] In which case you should have stopped playing as with that mind set you will only be loosing money. |

[/ QUOTE ] Agree 100%. In that hypothetical situation, I had already stayed at the table too long. Which was the bigger mistake. At what ever point you won the last big pot and think, the money now infront of me is significant enough to my life that I can't afford to gamble with it, Its time to leave the table. Sidenote, I realize that the original post was a joke, just found the discussion interesting. |

It depends what you want to do in a poker tournament. If you want to win a poker tournament, then you don't want to be folding aces preflop. [/ QUOTE ] P1: AsAc 1.8:1 P2: TdTh 0.2:1 P3: 8d7d 0.2:1 Everyone is all-in. Against two other players with decent holdings aces are only a 2:1 favorite (on average). That means, if you make this play 3 times in the same tournament you will lose. Mathematically. You only need to lose once to be out of the tournament. If you want to win a poker tournament you can't blindly go all-in with your aces. You need to pick your spots. |

also, people on this board always seem to think everyone has limitless resources to go play again after they take a bad beat. most people don't, and one bad beat can be the end of someone's poker playing until the next payday. [/ QUOTE ] If this is the case, you are playing way over the limit you should be playing. If you aren't comfortable going all in as a favorite, then this game is not for you. |

Wow, amazing how people will try to reach to make a point. I'll take my chances with AA vs TT or 87 suited before the flop any day of the week. Those suited connectors have the best chance of beating AA I agree, but people dont go blindly in with them. They are meant to be played on cheap flops. An all in with AA is never a bad play unless, fyou are playing in tournament where a top portion are granted a ticket and you are in a position where you can fold your way to a ticket. I dont recommend folding on the bubble, unless making the money is really going to make your year. Most people fold on the bubble trying to cash, so you might just pick up the blinds with an all in, in the very least you are going to be a favorite in any heads up hand.
