Default For You Canadians: Are we next?

Two things happened today to make me go hmmmm...

(1) On the radio I heard that four underground poker clubs got busted yesterday in Ottawa. Quite the timing.

(2) My girlfriend just got her Scotiabank Visa card statement today. It now has a statement reading: "Scotiabank will no longer be accepting Visa transactions to online gaming sites"

Is this just bad timing? Or is Stephen Harper getting ready to get into bed with Bush?

Damn I hope not. The poker club is no big deal, they had to bust them cause it was an illegal operation, standard and typical enforcement but didn't need to headline the news. Well there are other ways of depositing I guess. Weird that they won't fund gaming sites, maybe they are somehow affilliated with the US?

Actually for many years, alot of credit cards refused online gaming transactions. What I find odd is the timing of these announcements. Hopefully it is just Harper's way of siding with Bush, but not really taking any action to affect Canadians. Maybe Scotiabank made the announcement because some of the banks they own in the US will be affected, so they are just streamlining the process. I can't see how banks would want to fund online gaming in the first place. Leads to bankruptcies...

We gotta keep voting Liberals man. For those of you who thinks this can't happen in Canada, think again. All it takes is for a few religious douchebags to get majority and start forcing 'morality' down our throats. The US would most likely get this law challenged at some point. If the same thing happened in Canada, I don't think we would have a big enough voice (enough people to care) to do anything.
If it does happen it would be catastophic for me

We usually take a wait and see approach before we do anything the Americans do. They are kind of like our guinea pigs.

Don't be so paranoid. Card clubs get busted all the time and most credit cards don't allow transactions.

Washington state had online poker made illegal by liberals.
What you need to avoid is the government thinking "We know what's best for you" thinking, whuch can and has been done by both sides. Also don't forget that 2 congressmen voted against this thing.

Getting ready to? I thought they were both lying back smoking cigarettes by now.

I havent been able to use my credit cards on most poker sites since I started playing 2 years ago. I suspect Canada won't make a move on the matter. Perhaps that is just my hope.
