i feel like these games are similar in the fact that they are 7 card games. Meaning 3-4 players see the showdown unlike nl.

. In stud if you face several limpers and you have a hand that doesnt do well multi-way you would just limp in. so how come in lhe you dont do the same. Like if i had pocket AA in the big blind and 6 people limped. wouldnt raising just bloat the pot with a hand that doesnt do well against six oppenents?? I understand that i have a huuuuge edge pre-flop, but i would think the statement about bloating the pot would over ride that??? And youd be more apt to raise it up with a high suited connector. sorry for my ignorance on this, but i know there are some great limit players on this site that can help me out

I'm sorry, I don't get you. Do you think that suited connectors do better multi-way than AA does? They don't. Suited connectors do better in multi-way than they do heads up, but AA is the best hand no matter what the situation is. Have I misunderstood the question?

im not saying aces arent the best hand.... they just prefer few opponents the same way high suited connectors prefer many opponents. im not saying you wouldnt play the aces multi way im just saying wouldnt you want to keep the pot small so you dont allow your oppoents to accidentally play correctly later in the hand because the pot is so big

The reason you raise AA from the big blind is because you are far and away getting the best of it. Even with six limpers, you are easily getting much more than the 14.3% equity edge.

It's not true that big pocket pairs don't do well multiway in hold'em. They retain much more of their value than other hands do, like the high suited connectors.

I'm not a stud player, though, so maybe I'm off base.

Oh, and the reason that you can raise a bunch of limpers with a "multiway" hand like a suited connector is because you are getting a bunch of implied odds when you hit the right flop.

Raising AA preflop from late position with many limpers in front of you is not "bloating the pot", it is getting your money in the middle with the best of it.

You will still win a large percentage of the time, even unimproved with AA.

Does it suck to lose with AA after investing extra bets by raising? Yes. But the times you win after building a big pot pre-flop will more than make up for the extra bets invested when you raise.

To not raise AA in such situations is playing too weak and not getting the maximum value out of your aces when you are dealt them.
