Ferguson, and it's not even close. No one else puts as much effort into tournaments as he does.

The fact that Raymer is our clear 2nd choice while Doyle has, so far, received zero votes, should be an indication of how relevant this poll is.

I voted for myself, and was serious. I like my chances in the ME as much as anybody.

However, anybody on the list, except for Tiffany, is a +EV player in that tournament. Tiffany may become a winning player down the road, but she's too much of a novice to be a winner at this point in a big game. She had apparently only been playing poker for a few months when the ME started. She won her seat through a series of small satellites at the Gutshot club in the UK.

Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)

Raymer is very good but he did get really lucky the first day with the deck hitting him straight in the face.

Him and Farha. I feel like that could never happen for me.

Well, it can't ever happen to you if you don't find a way to get to the main event. Amazing that you guys can bad-mouth anybody that wins a tournament. Got any wins of your own?

It took you longer to fold KJ than it did to reply to this thread. Good stuff.

Sorry guys, but until they start showing you every hand on TV, you will have no real clue as to whether we were lucky or unlucky, or played great or terrible. What you see on TV is such a smidgeon of what really happened, it is almost irrelevant. It is only good for entertainment value, NOT for instruction.

[/ QUOTE ] Mostly yes, but one thing TV poker has done is taught me a lot about percentages and which hands are favored over which, etc. That's been pretty useful to me in for example responding to a reraise. I can think about the possible hands my opponent has and by watching TV poker so much recite to myself the odds of winning against each hand would be.

Anyway I would go with Harrington. Four final tables over his career, and two in this new era of poker alone. Its impossible to pick a winner, but I like his chances of a money finish in any given WSOP.

If I was looking to back the player with the most potential to win it all, I would probably pick Ivey.

If however I wanted to pick the player that would offer me the best chance to get some kind of return on my investment (i.e. cash), I would put my money behind Ferguson.

But what do I know?
