Genesis threw me for a minute there.

NBA Live '95 was unreal, I played it non-stop for years. Sonic 2 was great, Micro Machines 2 Tournament Edition was great, WWF Royal Rumble was great. Good times.

'94 NHL

EDIT: This is really the pinnacle of Genesis for me. I guess Sonic or Echo or something screams, "Genesis!" to most people since Sonic was supposed to be their signature franchise and I remember Echo being a big deal, but for me it doesn't get better than NHL '94.

I also really liked Shadowrun, I thought that game was incredible.

In addition to WWF Royal Rumble, WWF Raw. More wrestlers and a couple of new moves. No Million Dollar Man though.

Sonic 1-2, not a big fan fo 3 but I could see why people would mention it.

MKI-III were solid games.

Joe Montana '94, I want to say, was pretty fun.

NBA Jam + TE were also very solid.

Definition of "canon" from Wikipedia:

[ QUOTE ]
The Western canon is a canon of books, music and art (and specifically one with very loose boundaries) that is thought by many to have been highly influential in shaping Western culture. It is a list of the greatest works with significant literary and artistic merit. The selection of a canon is important to the theory of educational perennialism and the development of high culture.

[/ QUOTE ]

As you can see, this narrows the field down a bit. Games like Sonic 2 or WWF games do not make the cut. Only highly original, influential, and truly great games are "canon".

Dude, Mutant League Football and later Mutant League Hockey were pretty amazing as far as being fun goes. I even remember the Saturday Morning Cartoon based on MLF starring Casey Bones and Sugar Ray Lizard.

That [censored] was tight.
