My friend has two mature cats, one male and one female. They pretty much avoid each other. Rarely do I see them playing with each other. They get along peacably though.

The female cat is very vocal and affectionate, even with new people.

If you're going to do it, now's the time to do it. Your cat is still a kitten, so it hasn't gotten territorial yet. If you introduce another kitten, they'll spend all of their time playing with each other and will be used to each other by the time they reach adulthood that they won't try to kill each other at every opportunity.

I have two cats. They're brother and sister and we got them when they were about 3 months old. They sleep side by side when it's cold in the house, they clean each other, and they play-fight. Every so often they'll have a "real" fight, but it never turns into anything too serious.

However, there's absolutely no way they'd accept another cat into the house. They go ballistic whenever they see other cats outside, and literally throw themselves against the windows to get at them.

A few months ago we took my sister's cat in while she was looking for an apartment, and it was a total nightmare until she finally took him back. I had to ensure that I kept her cat and my cats separated at all times. The few times that they managed to get each other, there was blood spilled. My cats wanted to kill the interloper. I tried all of the tricks that I read online to bring in a new cat to a household, but my cats would have none of it. They were never going to accept him.

Hopeless,

Great advice, thanks (also great to have your avatar back, as previously mentioned). The pound is definitely not a "no kill" shelter, and I wonder how old they let these cats and kittens get before they put them down. Mine was four months and clearly bigger and more mature than most of the others; however I don't think he's old enough nor has been here long enough for territory to be an issue. I think he'd be more than happy to share the space if he had a buddy to play with.

Do it. Especially since he's so young. They'll be friends for life. I got a second cat when my first was about 2 years old and after a month or so they got along great, they keep each other company and are totally inseparable.

Get a second one... be sure you introduce them to each other in an environment that is not threatening to either cat. If your current cat has an area of the house that he sees as his, introduce them somewhere else. I have heard that putting new cat in room with the door closed is the best way to do this. Old cat will start sniffing around the door, putting paw under the door, etc. This gives them a chance to get used to each other's presence without them getting all freaked out and attacking each other...

Cats are awesome!

If you get it from the pound make sure it has a feline leukemia test. The pound where I am just had an outbreak. You don't want to expose your other cat.

There is clearly no motherboard in that PC, I really doubt the cat upgraded the RAM.
