Who learns anything in online "Play Money" tables? Seriously?

Sometimes when I'm bored I'll go on there and play REALLY stupid just for pure entertainment. And I know I'm not the only one.

[/ QUOTE ]

The only real value for play money tables is to make side bets with your friend on who lasts longer in the tourneys.

Why do you all assume, that he was playing on play money tables?

Regarding the post itself - just take a break, man.
This crap happens to all of us,up until your post i thought,i am the unluckiest man in the game
Just take a break for a weak, then come back all relaxed and refreshed.

And i don't see the point of making fun of the guy, btw.
He shared what we all feel at some point of our poker "cariers".

Unfortunately, that's the way it goes. Just a few months ago I had a week where I played an MTT every night and got knocked out of every tourney on a bad beat within 7 spots of the bubble. That's no b.s., it's true. I was punching my computer screen and screaming curse words by the end of the week. I felt the same way you do, afraid to play my strong hands aggressively, because I knew I was gonna get sucked out on and lose even more $$, or get bumped from a tourney. I whined here on 2+2 and to anyone else who would listen. Eventually I made small tweaks to my game regarding my betting pattern, etc. I think I am better now because of it. Luck is a huge factor in the short run, but over time, the solid player will profit.

should you quit poker? up to you. The fact that you have had bad beats in the past has nothing to do with any hand in the future. Yes maybe there is a .05% chance of losing all these hands but that happens and u have to accept it. But to think that it will have any bearing on future hands is just naive. Poker is not rigged and the site has nothing against you. I have had weeks were i will go hours without a pair over 10 but then at other times i will be 4 tabling and have AA AA kk and AK at my respective tables. Its called variance

I took a week off only to be bad beat-ed again to death last night and busted.

POKER - WHEN YOU HAVE THE PURE NUTS THAT 5% OF THE TIME, IT'S A SKILL GAME TRYING TO EXTRACT THE MOST MONEY YOU CAN FROM YOUR OPPONENTS
THE OTHER 95% OF THE TIME, THE GAME IS ALL LUCK, VULNERABLE TO A BAD BEAT AT ANY TIME, ALL LUCK
SO BASICALLY THE GAME IS 5% SKILL AND 95% LUCK, SO ALL THE GUYS OUT HERE WHO THINK THEY ARE SO SKILLED , LET'S SEE WHERE THEY ARE WHEN THEIR LUCK RUNS OUT

Sorry to sound bitter but that's what I am, thats what getting bad beat-ed out of $1500 in pots when you are a 80% fave or better in eech one. "keep playing, it will even out" is the common advice, well I did and it didnt even out. I mean, at the 50c/$1 I'd have to play bad beat free for like 2 months to overcome this recent string of beats, just not worth it to me. Maybe I just took a hard shot of bad luck and am an exception but my bottom line is this, maybe not 95% to 5%, BUT POKER IS DEFINITELY MORE THAN 50% LUCK AND LESS THAN THAT SKILL, PROBABLY LIKE 75%LUCK 25% SKILL. Some people have the luck, some dont and its obvious I dont. Good LUCK to you guys though

TastyPlayer,

If you came to 2+2 to try and convince us all that poker is a game that can't be beat, you need to have your head examined.

Chris Ferguson actually put it closer to 70% Luck- 30% Skill... and he's a little smarter than I am...now MY poker game may be 95% Luck and 5% skill, but I would have to say when I am an 80/20 favorite I will lose...um somewhere around 20% of the time and I am pretty sure that is about the same rate as Chris Ferguson. Only Chuck Norris wins 100% of these. All hands are mutually exclusive, if I lose 3 80/20 hands in a row, I am not DUE to win the next one beyond 80%. The 60/40 and slight edge coin flip situations are the Bread-n-Butter of poker and the 80/20 spots are the Red Bulls you wash it down with. If I were offered the ability to play my slight edge hands to perfection every time as to maximize value, I would give up the 80/20's forever! So if indeed my poker game is 5% skill, according to Mr. Ferguson I have room for 6 fold improvement!

dude, i've had similar badbeats this last week, lost a helluva lot more money than you to, but while i think jesus wtf were the idiots doing even calling with the sh1t starting hands that end up cracking mine, i also think i can't wait for them to make similar calls in the future when odds are that they will lose to the superior hand you should be playing with at least 20xBB in your bankroll, so although this may dent it a tad you should still have enough funds to continue where you left off and make money if you are playing solid....
i myself am not playing a solid game of poker, and quite frequently make the bad decision of playing when coming in drunk for a night out, often ending in me playing foolishly and losing money... however despite my unsolid play i am still managing to recover from the badbeats and ultimately go up (allbeit more slowly than what i could achieve if i didnt play druink and solidified my game).

i think personally that after a long run of seemingly endless badbeats, you have maybe loosened up and started making calls and plays which you know are bad and have failed to include here, i think this as i have also done this in the past and it is my belief that this makes me no better than the person calling from way behind who gets lucky...

Either give up poker, OR do what im trying to do, learn, evaluate and tighten your game....
