This poll could have used layers/multiple polls, i.e. your second favorite, third favorite, etc. I say that mostly because the NFL is running away with it. Not surprising, since I recently dropped into a sports bar to see the end of the PGA and a tied D'Backs - Padres game that was in extra innings. Of the 15 or so TVs in there that I saw, at least ten had a meaningless NFL preseason game that was in garbage time, one had the D'Backs, and none had the PGA.

While I like the NFL, its enormous popularity baffles me. Like someone said upthread, it's 10 seconds of play followed by 30 seconds of standing around (actually the play time is more like 5 seconds on average). And just TRY going in person to an NFL game, the TV timeouts are ridiculous, with the players just standing in the middle of the field waiting for them to end.

My vote went to golf, NBA would have taken second, football would have been third.

You really ought to split this into watching in person vs. watching on TV, that makes a huge difference IMO.

In person = hockey.

On TV = football.

The most annoying afternoon I've ever spent was watching a USC game in the student section. I was not a fan of the atmosphere.

lol, usc is definitely the exception to student sections being awesome. that's because everyone associated with usc has no soul.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hardly; the reason our student section isn't awesome is because, you know, football is kind of boring when you already know the outcome to all the games.
