Normal tennis rules, ball has to bounce on serve before it is touched obviously.

He cant catch the ball close if the server is good. You have around 0.4-0.5 seconds to respond. You can probably react in 0.15. Then you need to move your hand to where the ball is in 0.25-0.35 seconds. Thats not possible. [/ QUOTE ] OMFG people. This is exactly what tennis players do anyway. He's not going against Andy Roddick and 140MPH serves. I've already tried to spell this out, I'm through after this. Let me just say, that as someone who worked at a tennis center with nothing to do for 2 years, and no tennis skills, I spent a lot of time throwing tennis balls around. You can see where I side on these wagers. Also, collegiate tennis players tend to think waaaay too highly of themselves and their skills, making them prime targets for Nick. |

Wash, rinse, repeat. This may be the key to the prop. Again, you need extraordinary vision and reflexes to do it. Anyone with MLB/minor league 3B reflexes can do it. Nick's serves aren't coming faster than a crushed line drive by Pujols, Howard, or Vlad. Also, server will be pressing, and nervous with you standing there. Double-faults will happen, slow spin serves are out of the question now. Play on grass or whatever surface is softest to dive on. [/ QUOTE ] i really doubt you can just stand at the night and expect to not get passed everytime by a division 1 player who has time to take a full swing. however, i assume nick's strategy will be to not allow his opponent to have a full swing hardly ever. i'm also in the camp that think nick must have a large advantage in this bet. |

My rating, former college level Div 1 player, graduated in 2002. So I guess a 6.0 on the rating scale. [/ QUOTE ] There is absolutely no reason you shouldn't be able to destroy *anyone*. You are the guy with the raquet, correct? This would be *way* more interesting if you were like a 3.0 where your serves are mediocre and without control, and you will be prone to many unforced errors. If you are truly a 6.0 this will be no contest. You mentioned odds a few posts back. Who's laying who? I'm safely assuming that Nick is getting 4to1 as the non-raquet participent. |

I think if the thrower brings the balls to the game, he will have a huge advantage... Nobody has said anything about this, but a flat ball could be the one thing that tilted this in the throwers favor. Otherwise, the hitter would dominate based on the serve...
New balls = hitter wins hands down Dead balls = thrower has a fighting chance |

The answer to this is simple. Nick is a knuckleballer.
Also: The Thrower would only have to cover like 13 feet for the Hitter serve...couldn't he just play the net? Also: Wouldn't someone who could throw a wicked sinker have a good advantage in this prop? |

Also: Wouldn't someone who could throw a wicked sinker have a good advantage in this prop? [/ QUOTE ] Not at all... with good balls, it would be pretty much impossible for the thrower to break the server. This assumes that the server can hit the ball with some pace and spin decently. |

all the thrower has to do is keep delivering garbage the racket player can't really do much with until he gets a return he can play near the net, then it's over. if he's any good at baseball, that won't take long. the only issue i can see is that if the racket player is very good, it'll be tough for the glove player to play the serve.
