I might get lynched for this, but I like DMB's version of Watchtower better than Hendrix. Although Hendrix is obviously awesome.

I also like GNR's Live Or Let Die a lot.

Also, the classic youtube clip of The Boss taking over One Headlight. Not really a cover, but whatever.

I also vote for Cash's version of Hurt. I LOVED the original, but Cash's version - wow. I wonder how much the incredible video (for me, one of the best music videos OAT)influences that opinion.

Heroes - The Wallflowers covering David Bowie

I really dig their version more than the original.

AHEM :

Jeff Buckley's cover of "Hallelujah" FTW.

Also some amusing ones :

Sting's version of Little Wing

Luna has lots of awesome covers, I love their cover of Sweet Child of Mine

Blanket Music cover of "Hyper-Ballad"

Iron & Wine's cover of "Such Great Heights"

Steve Earle--I'm Looking Through You.

In his live shows he plays it like a bluegrass song and says he thinks that is what Paul McCartney was trying to do. I think he's right.

lol. either you're restating the OP for emphasis, or there was no WAY you could read all the way past the first line of the first post in this thread, because your idea just could not WAIT. Reminds me of a bit in the recently re-aired Simpsons Klown Kollege episode.

Krusty: Did you send those thousand red roses to Bea Arthur's grave?
Accountant: Yes, but Krusty, I keep telling you, she's...
Krusty: I DON'T WANNA HEAR THE END OF ANY SENTENCES!

Blinded by the Light by Manfred Mann is better than the original (Springsteen).

D'oh. I actually made the mistake of reading the whole stupid thread and forgot the OP by the time I got to the bottom. Every time I read a whole thread in OOT I regret it
