I do feel that it is bad to place a time frame on your goal like that. With $50, you are going to have to start off at the small micros if you want to play properly bankrolled. You want 300 big bets in your bankroll to be comfortable, and that basically means a 10/20¢ limit game or lower. At that level, you aren't going to see your bankroll growing by leaps and bounds. Then again, I don't know what kind of time you plan on putting in. If you are playing 4-6 hours a day or more, then I guess yeah, you will see it grow at a decent rate. But it's not called “grinding it out” because it happens quickly.

I personally don't think that setting monetary goals is a good idea.

Play well and get better while you're doing it and you'll automaticly notice an increasement of your bankroll but setting more or less tight date ranges for huge profits may tend to make you play way too aggressive and make you lose your initial investment if you don't win as much as you'd like to.

FWIW, to remind myself how to build a bankroll from scratch, I'm playing on roughly $50 I had left over in my Party account. I don't know if I'll take it all the way to $3k (I would certainly cash out some of it and invest it liquidly, I think) but it is sort of a fun exercise. Also I have real doubts about my ability to beat online games I'm bankrolled for, so this is a fun exercise to try to determine what stakes I should be playing at.

I went from $5 to around $1,000 in a week.. but I wouldnt suggest what I did.

$50 to $3,000 by new years is quite possible. I suggest just staying patient and remember that tilt is your worst enemy.

I started with $50 on Pokerstars 2 days after my 18th birthday on Mar. 1, 2006. I had always stuck to 20 buyins for each level I played; playing nl full ring games. By the last week of May, I was at $2700 before cashing some out. I had put in an average of 500 hands per night during this time. I began at .01/.02 and was soon at .50/1. Its doable, but you have to run well in all honesty. In the month of June, I had basically broken even.

QFT. Strip away stats and that is what everything really boils down to. If you play good poker, then your bankroll will grow over time. You will not be able to directly control how quickly it grows, but grow it will.

4 2 is right. When I first began I used to flip afer a losing day. Now I dont even know if im up or down after each session. All I worry about anymore, is if I made any costly mistakes each day. If you play enough, you will get to a point where u dont even see profit/loss, just how well or bad you played each day.
