The stacks here bring up the topic that Yugo and I were posting about yesterday -- i.e. that this is very close to a situation (with the limper and blinds) where pushing is +EV, and the question is whether it's optimal. In this situation, I raise, but with a t1400 stack I definitely push... with t1500 I probably push.

I raise it up with the intention of calling an all in by one other player. The raise is better than an all in because 1. 17bb all in plays screem AK. 2. Raising with AK instead of pushing can disguise your other raising hands. 3. It could induce an over the top reraise by an inferior hand such as AQ or AJ. If this gets me more coinflip all in confrontations I don't care, I won't play AK weak tight.
