Would DN be a phenom if he got a weird vibe/caught wind of something fishy and simply checked behind on the river? I kind of already know the answer to this, but I'm just curious how he would be viewed if he checked the river in this hand.

Sorry about the sidebar here, but how much is Gus supposed to tip the dealer? A dime? 5 dimes? [/ QUOTE ] a red or two? dealer does the same job whether the pot was $600 or $600k. $5 is a good tip |

Gus check raises the river. Daniel thinks for a while. Grabs his chips and acts like he is going to put them in.. looks at Gus and then folds 66 face up and says "nice hand". 2. Gus check raises the river. Daniel thinks about it and folds thinking Gus must have 55 or 99. Gus shows stone cold bluff and says "I put you on an over pair". He is infamous on all the forums for getting owned on TV by Gus Hansen |

In all seriousness I would like to hear an explanation from Gus about this hand. He obviously did not put Daniel on an overpair when he checked the river. The only reason to check is if you think DN has 99, a straight, or air. I don't think DN makes such a little preflop raise with an over pair. Maybe that was his flaw in trying to represent it after the flop.

I think Gus checked on the end bc DN called the CR on the flop and the turn bet. He may have thought DN was putting him on a steal or semibluff at the flop but after the turn bet and call he had to know DN had a big hand. I think its a great play. DN may have folded (possibly) to a lead bet at the river after the CR and Bet but if he was gonna bet Gus knows it was going to be a big enough bet to where if he Cr all-in DN would be less likely to fold. $575,700 pot. Thats just ridiculous.

Daniel would have had more chips left if he didn't raise with 4 high, call the $10K re-raise with 4 high, and then call $35K after the flop with bottom pair (deuces). That was $50K wasted.

I find it funny that Zeidman and Greenstein are both wearing the same shirt. Also, get rid of that Anon douche. He adds nothing to the show. At least Zeidman is entertaining in a Bob Stupak kind of way just because he plays so bad.
Has anyone else noticed that Eli and Antonio sit really, really close to eachother? Antonio also seems to whisper into Eli's ear a lot. Kinda scary. |

[/ QUOTE ] Once again, results oriented. Doyle could have had any number of non-king hands there that Daniel's flop call would have frozen out. We all know it's not generally smart to call big raises preflop with 42s, but Daniel knows how to play position and he knows his opponents. Plus, it's part of his meta-game strategy. I think he takes that pot away after the flop (or hits) enough times to make it okay for him to play. |
