I just have a personal issue with calling someone who is 36..."middle-aged". Ouch.

the average age might be 72 (probably slightly higher) but if you reach 36 your average age expectancy i beleive is closer to 80 (the average age gets brought down by infant deaths)

Gold will be fine as champ. I don't really like him, but I'm sure he'll grow into his role just fine. I think he's smart enough to understand what it means to be the the WSOP champ, and even if he's not the people around him like Chan will point it out to him.

The play will probably edited nicely on ESPN with all his table talk getting lots of new donks into the game. Frankly I can't wait to go to the casinos and have a bunch of idiots talking about their hand non-stop thinking they're cool. I'll take the free information.

All,

Gold played a fantastic final table. He held the chip lead for almost a week. Of course he got lucky, but he also put himself in great spots with his play. Most of the pros that were on the broadcast thought he was playing great.

Yet there is a contingent of internet mops who didnt like the way he played or that he talked during hands? I have a strong feeling this group is wrong about how Gold will translate to the public.

Bodog better start running some commercials with Gold sitting in a chair talking about how he's the same guy, nicer yacht...or wutever.
