Seinfeld's stand-up was pretty good from what I've seen, which is pretty limited. His 80s Tonight Show appearances I liked, although when he uses the same jokes later on the show they appears repetitive. I'm Telling You For The Last Time is fantastic. He never really does adult material or curses, which are basically modern trademarks of the top comedians. I think this both helps and hurts him. The stand-up he's doing today is so-so but he's Jerry Seinfeld so people will laugh at anything he has to say.

I forgot where I heard this, but there was a proposal for a Kramer show after Seinfeld ended, and guess what? Jerry Seinfeld refused to let it happen! Can you believe that? having Richards in his own show (being Cosmo Kramer) that would have been awesome but Jerry Seinfeld refused to let it happen. [/ QUOTE ] I think that all went with how Jerry wanted the show to end on a high note. Not saying the Kramer show would have been bad, but the image he created with Seinfeld ending on top has had people wanting more for years (more fame/more money). I think thats what made him a genius, he knew he hit the high point and got out of there, just like in vegas. Hey you never played vegas. I hear things. |

I think the TV show Seinfeld, and Curb, are both overrated. I like them both, but to me, they're nowhere close to the greatest sitcoms ever. But I've seen Seinfeld perfrom live and he's terrific. I'm about his age; maybe younger people won't find his stand-up to their liking.

[ QUOTE ]
Seinfeld is my favorite TV show next to 24. Its far and away the best comedy I have ever seen. However, after watching some Jerry Seinfeld standup and watching Curb Your Enthusiasm I think all of the comedic genius should go 100% to Larry David. Without Curb Your Enthusiasm I wouldn't have understood that all Seinfeld's ideas and jokes were part of David's incredible sense of humor and writing. We can all attest that Curb Your Enthusiasm is Seinfeld taken to the mature. If you notice in Seinfeld Jerry is the worst of the regular actors. He has a hard time keeping a straight face through his jokes. I am not trying to say that Jerry is not funny but he seems to have raked in tons of money and tons of fame for Seinfeld whereas I think Larry David has done all the work. Agree or disagree? [/ QUOTE ] I didnt even read your post, but you sir, deserve my location. Edit: I take it back after actually reading your post and finding that u think seinfeld is good. |
