When I was real young the scariest thing that I remember was Michael Jackson's Thriller video. Not the dancing part, which I really loved, but the whole movie scene where he tells his date to "beat it" because it's a full moon and he's going to change into a wereworlf. Swear to God.
I freaked out so bad after seeing it, that my parents wouldn't let me watch any monster movies after that. It was ridiculous. After that, the other scary movie that sticks out in my mind is "Pet Sematery 2" which watching now, is atrocious. I think the scariest movie I've seen, as an adult, is the Ring FWIW. |

Ya the Large Marge thing freaked me out when I was a kid, also the wolf thing from NeverEnding story.
I also was deathly afraid of the trailer for the movie Monkey Shines, it had this stuffed monkey playing these cymbols and it scared the crap out of me for some reason. The movie Troll scared me. Ditto for Shatner's Kingdom of the Spiders. Also alot of those "Amazing Stories" movies. |

I was scared shitless during "The Wiz," when everything starts coming to life in the subway scene, and chasing everyone. I remember being deathly afraid and having to be carried and tucked into bed by my mother, and I wouldn't let her leave the room.

Carrie's bloody hand coming out of the ground at the end. I was just the right age to hit the ceiling.

[ QUOTE ] I was deathly afraid of ET. [/ QUOTE ] Me too. In fact, I cannot think of another movie that really scared me at all. But I closed my eyes or covered my face during most of ET, and for years after was scared of aliens any time I was alone in the dark. Of course, I was also scared of robbers. And strangers. So I don't know if it's entirely fare to blame ET. But yeah, that movie scared the crap out of me. [/ QUOTE ] I had trouble with the government agency that shows up near the end - they freaked me out and gave me nightmares for a week or so. |

Back in the late 1950's (when I was a small child) there was a commercial for a Vincent Price film called "The Tingler" that absolutely scared the [censored] out of me.
It was simply a series of terrified faces emerging from a black background, shrieking at the top of their lungs. Why the tv station ran this commercial during "The Three Stooges" show is beyond me. |
