Default Re: Has anyone played poker at Inn of the Mountain Gods?

The one in New Mexico? If so, what's the poker like? Any decent games going on the weekends?

The Inn opened an entirely new facility a little over a year ago. The casino and cardroom are far superior to the previous incarnation.

The cardroom has 9 tables and is non-smoking (smoking @ the rail, and throughout the rest of the casino).

The two regular games are $2-$10 spread LHE (a no-holdem donkfest) and $2-$5 ($300 max buy-in) NLHE. Omaha usually goes also, but less consistently. On Saturdays, there is the "Big Game", $5-$10 ($500 min buy-in) NLHE, which features large stacks ($5000+) and agressive play. $3-$6 LHE, and $4-$8 LHE also occasionally are spread.

They have tourneys on Sundays (2PM), Mondays (6PM) and, I think, Thursdays (6PM) - these have 20-minute levels for the first three rounds, and 15-minute thereafter. Also, a $200 buy-in tourney one Friday a month through September.

The dealers are mostly competent and friendly, as are most of the regulars. The management is a bit lax, allowing frequent, extended absences from the tables, and sometimes overwhelmed by lots of traffic. The rake is $3 + $1 for jackpot. They usually do not have must-move tables, do not allow MP3 players, and player must stand-up to use a phone. I used to find the management to be a problem, but I think they have been significantly improving in the past six months....

Summer is nice, since lots of Texan tourists visit Ruidoso and come to the tables....
