My only NL exposure is to 6-max party pretty much, so I'm not sure exactly what adjustments I need to make to these loose live games full of chimps. I sit in one tonight, have a funding problem (I'm out of town and credit card won't give me a cash advance.) So I borrow $190 from a buddy and sit at $2/$5.
I lose a pot and I'm down to $140. Loose limper calls in UTG+1, everyone folds, I make it 25 in the hijack with 88. guy behind me calls, he's loose and sucks and looks like the video professor but not too out of line postflop, just likes to call. BB calls, UTG+1 folds. 3 to the flop for $80. Flop is 2s 2c 3s. BB checks, I bet $50, video professor makes it $100. BB folds, I feel like I have to put in my last $35 getting 5 or 6 to 1, even though he has me beat here probably 9 times out of 10, the dude rarely raises, either a deuce or an overpair is probably going on here. He flips over A2o and takes it down. Misplayed on every street? Or with a short stack do I want to just get all my money in? |

You should have played the 1/2 or 1/3 game with the amount of money you had. Just call with 99 preflop for set value.

They didn't spread 1/2 or 1/3, 2/5 was it. And I wanted to play with my buddy and that was the only one with 2 seats, so I took it.

If you are playing a short stack with no money behind, try playing hella tight. Just wait for good starting hands. If you rarely play a hand, people will respect your c-bets. I've found that this strategy slowing acculmalates money. Once you have a stack built up you can loosen up and play your regular style.
I agree with just calling PF looking for a set. Can't believe that donkey called with A2. Sorry bud... |

I agree with just calling PF looking for a set. Can't believe that donkey called with A2. Sorry bud... [/ QUOTE ] Hey, that happens it doesn't bother me at all. I just think maybe I made it tougher on myself by bloating the pot preflop. I think a c-bet is mandatory because the pot is relatively big, I'm usually good here and I'm very vulnerable to overs so I have to try to take it down right now. That's what I get for being short stacked, I was really wondering the most about preflop though, trying not to be too results oriented.. |
