Complaining about this does not make you a nit. It means you actually have some backbone. Are people confused because this is being called a freeroll? It's anything but free. 150 hours in the poker room equals a lot of money paid in rake or time charges.

[/ QUOTE ]

You're wrong. It is completely free. The money you pay in rake during those 150 hours provides you with a clean, safe, comfortable place to play poker and professional dealers to run the games for you. They are throwing a $500,000 freeroll on top of that completely free of any additional charge. I'm going to laugh if one of you guys who is bitching ends up winning this thing.

[/ QUOTE ]

Go ahead and laugh after I win the thing. I hope you laugh, because you're clearly in need of a good one.

What's worse? Bitching about the possibility that the rules of the road might be changed? Or bitching about the people who are bitching about the rules of the road changing?

Hi Johnny:

First off you should check with Venetian management to find out what exactly is happening.

But cardrooms that have these freeroll type promotions in my opinion are making a big mistake. The problem is that they tend to attract an undesirable element. Now of course this isn't the case with you, but if they go ahead and allow some of their best casino customers to sit in the freeroll tournament where you may have some undesirable people sitting right next to them, it would not have a positive effect.

Of course, if the rumor that you have heard is not accurate, then this previous comment won't apply. So again I suggest you talk to Venetian Cardroom management to get an answer.

Best wishes,
Mason

Can you please explain what you mean by undesirable? Are you saying undesirable in terms of people who cheat / have bad ethics?

Freerolls attract people that are there to take advantage of the freeroll. In other words people who have a small enough amount of money that it is worth it for them to sit there and grind out hours for a free roll. These are generally not the people a strip casino markets to and in extreme cases can scare away the very people they want in the casino. I have told people for a long time that you can site at the entrance of a casino and pick out the regular poker players form how they are dressed. I don't mean that in a negative way, it is just the ladies wearing an evening gown etc aren't going to the poker room.

"I'm sure the board would like answers, but I heard through the grapevine just yesterday that Lee Vinocur was removed from the position as poker room manager at the Venetian a couple days ago."

True. Two days ago.

Thats very disappointing. I specifically played at Venetian on my last Vegas visit due to Lee's posting here. Their effin retarded if the fired him... I even played hands of BJ and tossed the dice a few times every time I went to the restroom. Guess Venetian hates money.

At this point, I may boycott Venetian poker room until I know a valid reason why Lee was removed, and also they don't offer the limits I normally play at.

For now, for me...screw Venetian

I wouldn't jump the gun just yet, as I have the closer to real story. Lee went back to the Table Games Pit, which is where he came from. He has been at the V since opening, and he went back there. He did not leave the company. He also started as poker manager with no poker management experience.

The man that replaced him is quite an amazing individual. Though I met and respect Lee greatly, James Knight, the replacement, has 35 years of Las Vegas POKER experience.

He opened the Mirage poker room in 1989, and prior to that was at the Golden Nugget, and has been in the poker business since before most of us were born.

Really, though I will miss Lee for how nice he was as a person, Mr. Knight seems like quite a catch for the V room. I chatted with him yesterday and walked away in awe, and I am not even exaggerating.

Thanks for that update LasVegasMichael.

Only 35 years? Do you think that makes him qualified or something?
