L,
No, very serious, dude. The variance in higher stakes games is higher because they are more aggressive, so I really think you should have at least 4 buyins before playing them. Chances of losing 2 buyins just being unlucky is pretty high. Normally, having a cushion of that much is OK, but these games are so aggressive that I think it is smart to at least have an ADDITIONAL 1 or 2 buyins available beyond that. So, yeah, I'm serious. Maybe a bit conservative, but I just think it's smart poker to be fully rolled for AT LEAST 5, but preferably 6 or 7 buyins, when moving to these stakes. |

bobby,
2 buyins is plenty in the smaller, less aggressive games, but at these stakes the games get so aggressive that the variance is higher and I really think it is unwise to play them without at least 4 buyins. As I said, I am somewhat on the conservative side when it comes to bankroll management, so I prefer to have 6 or 7 buyins. I'd rather be overrolled than underrolled. Having said that, these games are full-ring, not 6-max, so 6 buyins might be overkill. |

Dude, 2 buyins, 6 buyins, you're both crazy. I watched that movie with the law student and the russian... that kid sat down with everything he had and hit that full house while the other guy was munchin his oreos... My cable went out at that point, but when it came back on he was on his way to vegas and the WSOP.
