I am sorry, but this is such an idiotic statement. They offer up to a 3 year in home service plan for every laptop they sell. [/ QUOTE ] Moe: Eh, that's pretty dumb. But, uh ... (taps once more) Homer: Extended warranty? How can I lose? Moe: Perfect.

[ QUOTE ] I use a Macbook Pro with Boot Camp. I have the 15.4" moel since I can't afford the 17" one but the 17" MBP would be the supreme laptop of choice if you are a Mac enthusiast who just needs Windows for poker like myself. [/ QUOTE ] So you are able to get all of the sites, well the ones that matter, anyway? I wasn't too sure if the new macs would run the sites, although they do recomend Intel chips. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah I can play all the sites. You just need to download Boot Camp and you need a copy of Windows XP SP2 and you can boot Windows on your MBP. |

Consider what sites you're interested in.
Both Party & Stars (the latter in a well functioning beta client) now offer re-sizeable tables, so full UXGA is no longer necessary for over-lap free multi-tabling. Consider whether you want to travel with you laptop or just use it at home. No need to spend money on ultra-portability if it's not leaving the house. Consider that HP/Compaq is not hardware compatible with the rest of the market (and should IMHO be avoided at all cost). Later upgrades (RAM/HD) are expensive or impossible. This is not a moot point - I have upgraded RAM in all of my laptops as the prices dropped way down. |

For Official 2p2 Laptop...
I nominate the Dell Inspiron XPS M2010. 20.1" screen 1680x1050 Display Super top flight everything else, but the main thing is the big display. A bit weighty at 18lbs and not cheap at $3,800. |

DAMN, that thing is 18 pounds? Why get a laptop you can't even put on your lap?

And as a bonus (and because Stars loves to demonstrate how their software mops the damn floor with Party) you can also resize Stars tables UP. Nothing like one monitor-filling table to create that live-game feeling. [ QUOTE ] A bit weighty at 18lbs and not cheap at $3,800. [/ QUOTE ] If you're going to buy a laptop that you can't really take anywhere (and the 9400/E1705 really fits that description too), you can save money and get more functionality by buying a Mac Mini and a 20" monitor. |

[ QUOTE ] The inspiron 9400 is available now. It has the WUXGA. [/ QUOTE ] I must need glasses then because I don't see it. Could you point it out to me? http://www.dell.com/content/products...l=en&s=dhs [/ QUOTE ] Try Dell Small Business. |

How customizable are the Mac Mini's? If I bought the base model now, could I upgrade the RAM and stuff later?

I'm opened this thread, typed control-f, typed in "thinkpad", and the firefox page search went red, came up with nothing.
I'm very dissapointed. |

Okay, wow, thanks everybody.
I was going to buy a brand new computer no matter what. I'm glad everybody put their input on what they think is best. I was looking at this Compaq, or AlienWare, or Dell, so there I have it. Maybe I will stay with Mac, considering it is usable still. As usual, plenty of food for thought from 2+2. still "embaRRaSSing!" ty. |
