[ QUOTE ]
I don't remember anything with the O's. [/ QUOTE ] It was the game that ended Buehrles streak of consecutive starts of over 6 innings pitched. An O pitcher plunked a Sox player, then Buehrle retaliated and got the hook (no warning if I remember correctly). But once again it was a "them first" situation. |

Ozzie suspended for 1 game and Riske suspended for 3 for the 'beanball' incident.
About what I expected. |

[ QUOTE ]
The Twins thing wasn't last year? I stand corrected Maybe I overstated with 'always' More than the norm seems more appropriate It seems like the Sox are involved in these things more than my beloved Cards, whom are in them all the time due to LaRussa [/ QUOTE ] My dad grew up in Rolla, so the Cards are my second favorite team/favorite NL team for what it's worth. |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Ozzie defended his use of "[censored]" to another reporter saying crap like "in my country..." and "it's not against gays, it's against his manhood" lol. Then later, after a talk with Reinsdorf, Ozzie appoligized for using it yet still defended his use of it in his apology [/ QUOTE ] From Wiktionary.org I'm pretty sure this is what Ozzie meant: (US slang, offensive) A jerk, an a**hole. Why did you do that, you f*g? I use the word in a similar manner as I'm sure many of the offended critics here do as well. [/ QUOTE ] Ozzie said he used the word to "insult his manhood" or something, which clearly shows he wasn't using it as a substitute for "jerk." Furthermore, Ozzie isn't some Joe spouting off at his buddy in private. That word is not suitable to any professional setting. I can imagine a boss or CEO saying "jerk" or "dummy" or "idiot" but not ozzie's word. |

[/ QUOTE ] um, Riske gets suspended for 3 for hitting someone Johnson is suspended 5 for not hitting someone wtf? [/ QUOTE ] Riske is a relief pitcher, Johnson is a starter. These are standard (1 start/relief appearance) suspensions for pitchers. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I love MLB. Torre gets a suspension for a pitch that doesn't even hit a batter, and Ozzie runs around threatening rookie pitchers when they don't bean people, calling people [censored] fagggots, and nothing happens. [/ QUOTE ] Ozzie will be suspended for Riske hitting Duncan. Threatening rookie pitchers???????? What did he say? Were you in the dugout to listen? As for calling Mariotti a [censored] he may still face punitive action. Do me a favor though. Read Mariotti's White Sox articles since Ozzie was hired, then listen to (or read) Ozzie's rant against Mariotti and let me know how you would view things from Ozzies perspective. [/ QUOTE ] If Ozzie has called Mariotti a douche most everyone would have just agreed, because Mariotti is an enormous douche. It's just unfortunate for him he happened to use a word that is politically incorrect. I haven't seen anybody refute the "He's a piece of [censored]" part of the quote. [/ QUOTE ] Ozzie defended his use of "[censored]" to another reporter saying crap like "in my country..." and "it's not against gays, it's against his manhood" lol. Then later, after a talk with Reinsdorf, Ozzie appoligized for using it yet still defended his use of it in his apology. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah well Ozzie isn't in his country. When in Rome, do as the Romans do. If he doesn't like it then why doesn't he go back to his native country? |

[ QUOTE ]
Dude, I think Mariotti's a [censored], too, but if I were the manager of a baseball team I certainly wouldn't call him that when anyone's around. [/ QUOTE ] I'm defending Ozzie in this thread strictly on the beanball wars. I agree he puts his foot in his mouth too much, and definitely did so here. Marriotti is a [censored] though. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Ozzie, however, will throw at you if you look at him the wrong way [/ QUOTE ] Ozzie has no such reputation. I watch virtually every Sox game and they never start this crap. In his tenure as manager Sox pitchers have hit 125 batters and Sox batters been hit 178 times. They want to stay out of trouble because they are in contention and have no need for suspensions. They play clean, hard, aggressive baseball. But when pushed once too often you just have to push back. [/ QUOTE ] How come they are the one team in the league constantly involved in this stuff? [/ QUOTE ] They are the one team in the league involved in beanball wars? Really? |

[/ QUOTE ] um, Riske gets suspended for 3 for hitting someone Johnson is suspended 5 for not hitting someone wtf? [/ QUOTE ] It's actually very standard...reliever vs. starting pitcher. Essentially Johnson misses one game with a 5 game suspension. |
