On the making of documentary I remember them saying that Robert Shaw was extremely drunk and improvised a good portion of it. They had the scene all written out but he just went off on this awesome tangent.

Either way when he says "I'll never put on a life-jacket again" I get goosebumps.

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned here, maybe its too easy, but the Baptism scene towards the end of GF1 is probably the best.
