>>> Why do you want him to fold if he's bluffing? WHAT AMOUNT ARE YOU RAISING TO? Also, as others have pointed out, some people minraise with nonsense like K9. I don't think calling is much worse than folding, if it's worse at all, but raising is definitely at the bottom of the pile, covered in poo. <<<

I'm envisioning you now at the bottom of that pile you mention, hmmm. You make a compelling and highly intellectual argument for calling the flop bet. Why not call a turn and river bet also by the same reasoning, and just in case he may be bluffing. In fact why not call all bets and raises just in case, well if you never ever raise you'd never know...

You're missing the point...if you raise, you blow all hands that you beat out of the pot. If you call, some of those same hands will continue giving you money.

If you're beat, you're losing your stack 100% of the time when you raise, unless you're raising some magical amount that you can get away from, which is why I continue to ask you HOW MUCH YOU WOULD RAISE.

That makes sense. According to the highly scientific and much referenced poll mentioned earlier, a minraise means a great hand. Thus, a reminrase must represent nothing less than the pure nuts, and villian will fold middle set.

Here's an old poker saying a lot of you seem not to have heard of, "don't go broke with one pair".

How many of you would call off your entire stack to the river with just TPTK - remember that in this case you hold a weaker hand, and many of you seem to think you're seeing a showdown no matter what.

I am as reticent on the issue of how much to raise as the calling faction are on what to do next. If you intend calling off your entire stack (remember I advocated folding) no matter what comes I'd suggest going all-in now.

If worse hands will continue to bluff till the river they are just as likely to call your all-in; if better hands are ever going to fold this is the best opportunity to force their decision.

Do you really believe that someone who is bluffing with air, or taking a stab with something like a mid PP, is going to call your all in with as much frequency as they'll fire again on the turn?

I do agree that this is probably the only time you're going to fold out anything that beats you, but the only better hands I could POSSIBLY see you folding out are a very wierdly played AK and KQ (not better but you get the point). And even those would be pretty rare...

Also, people have said to call flop and push turn since page 1, but you still haven't given a good amount to raise.

vvvv-----I guess we are going in circles, I'm done.

Everyone,

Please keep discussing this hand - it is high hilarity.

slartibartfast,

It's a good thing you make your living at poker and not arguing.
