you could use a make-over....not a complete one like they usually do, but you definitely need some fashion advice and you could use a new hair style. But this is nothing your wife couldn't pull off, if she were so inclined. [/ QUOTE ] This is how Ed looked when I met him. ![]() I've done all I can. |

The following advice should help if you get far enough for them to scout you, Ed:
1) thrash your house 2) don't do laundry for three weeks before they get there. Make sure you leave some weird underwear on the floor of your closet or bedroom so Carson can make his "icky" face. 3) get rid of any nice clothes you have til they are gone 4) forget any bit of culinary knowledge you might have 5) grow a unibrow to give Kyan or whatever his name is something to do 6) don't get a haircut a month before they get there. 7) invent a reason you want to do all this. 8) hide any really nice furniture you have. There are tons more, but this is a good start. |

1) thrash your house
Check. Four cats and two human slobs can make a tiny apartment look bad pretty quickly. 2) Make sure you leave some weird underwear on the floor so Carson can make his "icky" face. That's easy. Ed already does that. 5) grow a unibrow to give Kyan or whatever his name is something to do Kyan I think. He's the hot one. Ed can grow a unibrow in about 5 minutes 7) invent a reason you want to do all this we're thinking maybe a book release party or a DVD release. 8) hide any really nice furniture you have we don't have any. It's all hand-me-down mismatched stuff. Thanks, this is good stuff. I agree with you guys, though, that he doesn't need a makeover. I think he looks great. The problem, though, is that his image doesn't convey his success. You know? People outside of the poker world meet him and think he's just some guy. They don't even believe he wrote his books until they see his picture on the back. They look at him and think he's a college student who shops at Target, not a pro poker player who's got his act together. |

Not sure how much living in a tiny apartment with hand-me-down mismatched furniture is going to help this image. |

The problem, though, is that his image doesn't convey his success. [/ QUOTE ] Why is there a problem? Ed I don't think you need a makeover I think you are fine as you are. There is an old saying "A woman marries expecting a man will change and man marries expecting a woman to remain the same" Change because you want to, not anyone else. I am amused by queer eye for the straight guy but I think it is kind of demeaning. I wouldn't do it. |

Of course it would be demeaning, but also probably memorable and funny. And hey, they even buy you free stuff! Not a bad deal at all.
Ed could use a haircut, and still needs to lose some weight. Nothing extraordinary going on there, but still worthy of producing a grin. Being a guy who isn't grinned at for his appearance is probably preferable. |

[/ QUOTE ] Pretty easy to see how you were attracted to him then. FWIW, I just got a makeover of sorts. My wife decided I needed to dress like a "grown up" so we did a bunch of shopping. Now I look more professional, and the clothes aren't really much less comfortable than the t-shirt nike lined pants that were my outfit. |
