as allan said K8 is in the top 25 percent of hands. so if the guy is raising 50 percent of his hands, most of the time you hand is good (factor in the added money) and you shoud call. Its similar to a scernario where you know someone is bluffing but you have a hand like A3. The thing is some of the time you are going to see 3 8 or something. Yeah the other times its basically a coin flip against his 9 10 or something but the dead money compensates you for this also.
From what i understand you never really get a chance to talk with the other players alone when your at the final table so making a deal is basically impossible unless your friends with the fellow player or you can really trust the guy and you worked out something the night before. |

JS, Mizrachi and Nguyen both had to use the facilities right before heads up in Tunica. Rumors are rampant, particularly considering what happened on hand 1 of that heads up match. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be tough to engineer. |

[ QUOTE ] 1 outers on the river are sick. 2nd one at a WPT final table. Rigged. [/ QUOTE ] it was a 2 outer. [/ QUOTE ] how was it a 2 outer? only 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] could have saved his ass. and wtf did the guy call an all-in (12BB) preflop with K8o?! edit: nm... pairing on the turn.. the 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] would have given his opponent the nut flush, but given him a full house |

wtf did the guy call an all-in (12BB) preflop with K8o?! [/ QUOTE ] Excerpt from cardplayer.com------ Date / Time: 2006-02-22 12:13AM Title: All In Preflop Log: Flops are few and far between as one of the two players is moving all in preflop almost every hand and trading blinds back and forth. |

C'mon, would you call with k8 for a million dollars? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, I would call. (The difference between 1st & 2nd was over $1.2mm) For the record, I made no deal at the LAPC. (I have never made a deal at a final table, I always have 100% of myself, I never back other players---my life is simple). |

If he was pushing 50%, it looks like a good (marginal!) call given the amount of dead money in the pot. equity (%) win (%) tie (%) Hand 1: 47.9580 % 45.33% 02.63% { K8o } Hand 2: 52.0420 % 49.41% 02.63% { 22+, A2s+, K2s+, Q2s+, J5s+, A2o+, K2o+, Q2o+, J7o+ } [/ QUOTE ] Bingo! I would take out Q2o, Q3o, J7o and add some connectors & suited connectors/one-gappers (e.g., 10 9, 10 8, 9 8, 87s, 86s, 76s), but you have the right idea. I never viewed it as a "high margin" play. |

Have you unearthed better math than the rest of us, or do you credit your game's efficacy to its ability to confuse opponents into making mistakes? ... I was hoping you'd be willing to discuss how ingenuity and creativity factor into your game relative to the math. [/ QUOTE ] No, I have not unearthed better math (The math part of the game can be mastered in one day). Your question implies the only other possibilty is confusing opponents into making mistakes, that is only one of MANY attributes that make a strategy successful. Creativity is a big factor (and gets rewarded big time) when the chips are deep (and you get to play every steet). At 30x BB the game is simple/boring, there is less opportunity and reward for being creative-----you don't have to be very intelligent (or creative) to be a successful tourney player when playing shallow chip depths and/or fast structures (you only need to do two or three basic things very well). I am not going to give specific examples of "creative" plays I have made in the past. BTW --- from the little I saw of your play at Mirage it appears you have a very good game. |

Anyway, I made one, probably two, mistakes during the short time we were at that table. I was happy to be moved. Keep posting! |

Alan,
This question may be a little late since I just now watched by Tivo'd copy of the tournament. The broadcast made it seem that you defend your blind over 90% of the time. I was just wondering if that is at all accurate? It definitely worked out for you as you were a set flopping monster at the final table. |

Edit Edit : If I hear VVP refer to aces as weapons of mass destruction one more [censored] time, I'm flying to the next WPT event to stuff a WMD up his ass. [/ QUOTE ] Instead of getting pissed off, have some buddies over for a cash game before hand and play a drinking game when the WPT comes on. Every time you hear VVP make references like WMD for Aces, etc. drink a shot or take a swig of beer! |
