dealers who think they deserve a big tip for shipping a big pot are fking idiots. poker players make an hourly rate and many of these players getting shipped 20k pots are still down on the year. these dealers who think they deserve a green chip for a big pot are the same ones who hate poker players who blame them for when theyre losing. dealers shouldnt get heavily rewarded when they ship a bit pot nor should they have to take [censored] from the guy who lost the pot. they make a solid hourly rate of $20-$35/hr yet they think they deserve a piece of the wealth people have.

I hate those people and I'm not even a dealer. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to have to deal with that [censored] day in and day out.

Frankly I do think they should keep a special set of dealers for the biggest games and the players should tip them very well to protect a game where one dealer error or mistep could cost them thousands of dollars.

Uh, I don't think I should get green in a 10k pot but I still hate idiots who blame me for losing with AK on a QQJ flop.

I guess "hate" isn't the right word, more like "I think they are absolutely retarded and good for the game."

the dealers say they wont tip them a dime. i assume that means the dealers are saying the players arent tipping more than a dollar. maybe im mistaken and they are saying that they arent even getting tipped a dollar, which really isnt all that unreasonable as every pot in the 4k/8k game is 10k+ so for a player to not tip for 1 pot isnt that bad especially if hes stuck as long as the dealers are still making a very good wage.

of course, as someone mentioned i think that if better dealers are dealing the big game then they should be tipped better than normal dealers. im not saying dealers shouldnt make money, of course they should, just many of them think they deserve to make more than $30/hour just because they are dealing a game that results in large amounts of money changing hands. they dont.

tom, of course its wrong for players to blame the dealer when they catch bad cards. i was just saying that many dealers feel they should be rewarded for dealing lucky hands yet these same people dont feel they should be chastised when they deal losing hands. my point is that dealers dont influence the luck of the cards and shouldnt be compensated based on whether someone at the table is lucky or not. they should however make a fair hourly rate but many of them feel they are entitled to more than they receive and get angry when they are only tipped a dollar for shipping a 20k pot. this angers me because i personally see to it that dealers make a fair hourly wage because i tip more than they receive on average. some get angry when only receiving a dollar for shipping a nice pot which shows a serious lack of appreciation for someone like me who does his best to provide for them a good living. of course, most dealers dont say anything at the table but so often ill be talking to a dealer and hell tell me about how someone only tipped him a dollar when he shipped that person a $2000 pot and how that someone is cheap because of it. how ungrateful.

Hey TStone,

There are tons of pros and/or regulars at Commerce who do not tip period. Unfortunately they are often the most likely to berate dealers when they lose etc. Every time I play at Commerce I wind up feeling very bad for the poor guy or girl dealing to my table at least once.

yah thats really unacceptable and i want to make it clear that im not defending these people. are there people who play in bobby's room at bellagio who dont tip dealers? you hear rumors about how some people never tip but in reality some of these people dont tip while losing but tip double while winning. michael jordan has been rumored that he never tips while playing 20k/hand blackjack, but i imagine this rumor started by some guy who saw michael play one session. maybe he was stuck this session and doesnt tip while stuck, but while hes winning hes tipping cranberries.

berating dealers for bad cards is obviously retarded however. last week at the borg i saw someone rip up some cards in the 80/160 game because he lost a few pots. absolute unacceptable. at least hes not trying to papercut the dealers though.

there also is some justification in the fact that some people dont feel they should be obligated to tip. maybe they feel that the casinos should be paying the dealer's wages and if people stop tipping the house will pay the dealers as they should. in reality, dealers should be just as mad at the house for paying them base salary as they are at players who undertip. they should actually be more angry at the house as the house is making money while most players are losing. personally, i dont feel i should be obligated to tip as i think that is the house's job to pay the dealers, but i still do it because i understand that the dealers deserve to make money. it is however unfair that the burden to pay the dealers has been passed on to the players.
