Funniest scene of the show was after VITO was killed, a couple of TONYs boy said " I wished I had borrowed money off of VITO now".
Then they pan to the guy cooking dinner smiling (he just borrowed 20k a few scenes earlier) |

Is there a way to get a moratorium on nit-picking posts??? I can't believe anyone reads these threads because they care about whether a helmet could break a windshield, or how much a bottle of wine costs. Every episode, there's one trivial (and I do mean trivial, in its barest sense) tidbit that the nits latch on to, and won't let go. Who gives a rat's ass about the physics of a windshield?
[ QUOTE ] There is no intention to set up Phil as a closeted homosexual. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not so sure of that. Remember the last shot of Phil we see? Wide awake in bed, staring at the ceiling in the middle of the night. The Vito "disgrace" is over, he should feel relieved, but something is making him lose sleep. Most importantly, THERE IS NO WAY DAVID CHASE "ACCIDENTALLY" HAD A CHARACTER WALK OUT OF A CLOSET. It means *something*. ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: Places everybody! DAVID CHASE: OK, Vito, you're on the floor. Henchmen, you're on either side of Vito. Phil, you wait in the closet. When you get your cue, you come out... JAMES GANDOLFINI: (from offstage) Phil's coming outta da closet! Ha ha! CAST AND CREW: Ha ha! DAVID CHASE: Oh right, hadn't thought of that. Maybe you'd better wait in the bathroom, instead... |

YTF,
People have said it was for humor, nobody said it was an accident or coincidence. |

[/ QUOTE ] I mentioned the windshield first, and I didn't intend to make a big deal about it, but then people who obviously don't know what they're talking about tried to argue. I hope I can put it to rest now... Windshield glass is safety glass with a tough sheet of plastic sandwiched inside of it. You cannot punch a hole through it with a blunt object by hand, because it will just flex. What will happen is you will just get a shatter pattern like this. Even if you did manage to punch a hole, it would be a small one. You certainly wouldn't have a big rectangular hole with pieces of glass falling away. In any case the car would be undriveable because you would have a big area of shattered glass that you wouldn't be able to see through. Now it's not so much that breaking a hole in the windshield the way he did is not possible. It's that any mob guy would know this, because he is very likely to have broken some windshields himself, or to have seen lots of them in body shops and chop shops. So the problem is, say I'm Tony. I really want my son to go to work tomorrow, but wait, let me do something to make his car undriveable first. |

I'd like to point out that the song playing during the roadhead sequence was "Back in Black," and then Tony pays the girl and arranges the preliminary meeting with Vito to set him up to get killed.
Really piling on the bad Tony. And then we watch Phil happily watch the entire brutal killing. So much worse than Bad Tony ever. I love this show. |

And then we watch Phil happily watch the entire brutal killing. [/ QUOTE ] Since nobody else brought it up: Joey G (the actor who played Vito) was on the Stern show Monday. He said the scene they shot was much, much more brutal than what made the final cut. He specifically mentioned that Phil had a line, where he instructs the goons to "Pull down his CS'ing, MF'ing pants." I'm guessing that led up to the pool cue insertion. |
