Default Trip Aces with a 3 kicker, facing two on flop.

My only read on UTG is he posted in UTG, this makes me believe he must be a bit fishy.

OTB is of the 60/0/0.7 variety

Easy fold or call down?

Online 2/4 6max

Pre-flop Gib is MP with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

UTG (poster) checks, Gib limps, CO limps, OTB limps, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Gib bets, CO folds, OTB raises, 2 folds, UTG 3bets, Gib?

I jam it with three aces and bet again if the turn isn't a diamond. With all those limpers the range of hands for the OTB to just call with is much wider than Ax. I'm making UTG a LAG after posting UTG and then check raising the flop into a better and raiser.

Of course I'm a fish.

Well they don't both have aces so I guess one of them has an A and one has some sort of draw. Your equity sucks but is enough to call down if the action isn't too hot. You can probably expect to chop a decent % of the time with another A-rag and you will spike a 3 10% of the time or so. Obviously I don't fear AJ or JJ here, and I am guessing UTG has A-rag and button has something like QdTd. Get to SD as cheaply as you can and turn a J or 3 to make your life easier.

This is pretty close to a turbomuck for me.

Yep this is my thought too, I was curious if anyone could find an argument for calling down.

Is PF fine? (I decided to play it due to the loose-passive PF nature of the table)

Well ... against A9 and QdTd things aren't too bad.

Holdem Hi: 903 enumerated boards containing As Ad Jd
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
Ah 3h 99 10.96 516 57.14 288 31.89 0.269
Qd Td 274 30.34 629 69.66 0 0.00 0.303
Ac 9h 242 26.80 373 41.31 288 31.89 0.427

Against A9 and JJ which is worse than average IMO you're not hopeless:

Holdem Hi: 903 enumerated boards containing As Ad Jd
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
Ah 3h 108 11.96 735 81.40 60 6.64 0.153
Jc Jh 618 68.44 285 31.56 0 0.00 0.684
Ac 9h 117 12.96 726 80.40 60 6.64 0.163

With AQ and a strong draw you have about 20%:

Holdem Hi: 903 enumerated boards containing As Ad Jd
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
Ah 3h 102 11.30 635 70.32 166 18.38 0.205
Qd Td 303 33.55 591 65.45 9 1.00 0.341
Ac Qh 323 35.77 405 44.85 175 19.38 0.455

The only hand that completely demoralizes you is AJ. Given the pot size I think you can call down as long as it's not capped every street. The weaker the kicker on the A the more equity you have. You're not in too bad of shape at all against like A5.

My biggest problem with this hand is the best result I can hope for is a split (bar hitting my kicker & dodging his), is it worth paying 3BB's to find that out? IMO I dont believe it is.

You will split a bunch for sure but you will win when you spike a 3 occasionally too (about one time in 10) What would be nice is for someone with a software program to do an analysis based on hand ranges.

AJ does leave you hopeless though.

Both your opponents can't have an A. If you split with another Ax, you'll chop up the dead money the third player contributed.

Besides, getting half the pot is better than getting none of it, and at this point, there's no way I'm forfeiting my share. Plus, you would be surprised how often you're seeing two Jx hands.

At least 1 passive person is raising you and you are hoping for a tie or a non-diamond 3 assuming the other guys full house card doesn't hit as well.

I don't see a way for you to outplay anyone from here to the end, so I would just drop and know you'll get their loose passive money later.
