Am I an [censored] if I think this technique is entrapment? A better solution (that wont make as much money for our corporate media) would be to educate our sons and daughters about chatting online.

[ QUOTE ]
Why don't they go after the dangerous child molestors who go after prebuscent children? If someone were masquerading like a 9 year old, I would be happy to see a pervert who approaches them get crushed. But I have not seen this yet. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed. It is much more difficult to go after these creeps in a TV friendly manner. With latency aged kids the abuse is usually disclosed to an adult (or a peer who reports in to an adult) or a doctor discovers something unusual during an examination - and a child of such a young age would never "invite" the abuse. Since they are never (rarely) a willing participant, you cannot snare these abusers in a sting operation like you see on Dateline. If you get a petite 19 year old she can pull of 12 or 13 well enough for the purpose of these operations. How do you set of a trap for someone whose target age is 7 to 9 or someone who abuses infants? This is much more difficult. In these cases you are counting on someone in the community to report. |

[ QUOTE ]
Is there any sane person in the world who doesn't think all these guys should be castrated upon conviction? [/ QUOTE ] A few years ago, Florida had a deal where sexual predators could get out early if they volunteered to a form of castration. As I understand it, they would cut the tube that connected the testes to the rest of the body. No testosterone = no sexual urges. Seemed like a great idea but the Supreme Court said no. They said, voluntary or not, it was cruel and unusual punishment. |

[/ QUOTE ] Entrapment is relevant if an officer encourages someone to commit a crime they normally wouldn't have committed. |
