Eh, probably cant do that one either. Ive never played a tournament over $150 and wanted to take a shot. Still have some work to finish up. Is that $109 NL tonight I see on their website a regular tourney or a shootout?

Huge lucky hit right before the break...pushed all in with AJ on a flop of A98, ran into pocket 9's...hit running straight cards. Would've been down to $3100, instead at $7K at the break.

Because you're very likely ahead and if you bet and he calls you make more money...

[/ QUOTE ]

Ok. I understand what you guys are saying. When it gets to the 25/50 level, there's no way I am checking that flop. However its 10/20 level, and if I bet the flop, I am basically commited to the pot. I am not interested in extracting 100 more chips, I am interested in staying alive. Since I am way ahead, there's no harm in checking the flop. Most of the time he checks the turn, and I bet, he folds/calls. However this time he convinced me that he hit a set. Since I did not have a lot of money invested, I could easily 'escape' from the pot. I only lost 500 chips in the pot.

Now if it was the later level, I would throw the "survive" crap out of the window. I think my play is "OK" in my book. I do not do this except in "deep stack" tourneys. I think having 2500 chips with 10/20 blinds is pretty deep stacked.
