Does anyone else remember when SportsCenter varied between 30, 60, or 90 minute editions and the determining factor was how much sports news was actually happening that day?

[ QUOTE ]
Apparently Canada has a station (TSN or something) where you almost never see commentators on the highlight shows. Just highlights. Thats basically what's wrong with ESPN. All their shows are about the commentators getting face time and spitting out catch phrases. Basically there is no nead for lead ins, or "he grew up dirt poor but now he gives back to the community" stories, there are enough channels out there doing that stuff. In fact CNN had it right like 10 years ago with headline sports. Just straight highlights- slow it down a bit, add tons more to fill in the 1/2 or full hour and i'll watch. [/ QUOTE ] I don't like TSN however it's sportscentre is better than ESPN's. When I watch Sportscentre I want to say all the highlights from the night before. ESPN has MUCH better programming in general. The only shows I watch on TSN are sportscentre, live sports, and PTI(which is an ESPN show). The other major problem with TSN is a complete over reliance on hockey. I like hockey but it is ridiculous that they previewed the WJC finals, before showing the Rose Bowl highlights the day after the Rose Bowl. Pretty much be careful what you wish for |

Isn't ESPN news similar to what you are asking for? I live in Canada so I have no clue.

I wanted to kill myself when they did the mock GM press conferences for the Red Sox and Yankees. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, this might have been the worst thing they have done yet. They did mock GM press conferences for many more teams, as well. Not sure how many, because I stopped watching around this time. |

I can't remember that song and if anyone posts it I will kill them.
Pudge - ESPNews is actually just about the opposite. It's almost all just press conferences and news anchors. There is about zero actual sports analysis. |

You have to offer them something they can't get anywhere else. Innovation, hardcore-analysis, non-tiresome personalities. Getting someone from the "golden age" of ESPN would help to, guys like Olbermann, Eisen, or Kilborn.
