1. In many countries, including Australia, you don't tip.

[/ QUOTE ]The tournament wasn't held in one of them. I can link you to a map if you need me to.

According to a post I read on RGP allegedly, David Plastik talked Hachem out of leaving a 100k tip to the dealers because 2% of the ME pool was already taken out for them, which Hachem wasn't aware of. Another poster said Hachem wanted to open one of the 50k bundles and toss it into the crowd.

[/ QUOTE ]

The casino took another 4% for itself in addition to the 2% that goes to staff.

The following percentages will be withheld from Buy-In for each event: (Buy-in/Tournament staff/House) ($500.00/3%/7%) ($1,000/3%/6%) ($1,500/3%/5%) ($2,000/3%/5%) ($2,500/3%/5%) ($3,000/3%/5%) ($5,000/2%/4%) ($10,000/2%/4%) -Harrah's Management reserves the right to change or cancel any event at any time. All events will be held at Rio Suites with the exception of the final 2 days of the WSOP Main Event which will be held at The Horseshoe Downtown, Las Vegas

Dealer tip from J. Hachem? A single $100 bill. What a schmuck.

[/ QUOTE ]

He tipped $150,000. I think he is a nice guy.

Yes, I know. And no, I don't need a link. I just don't get why you should tip excessive amounts to the dealer just because you are playing for high stakes. Do the dealer in the $4k/$8k game recieve thousands of dollars per hour in tips?

To me it makes much more sense to be upset about rich people not donating anything to charity than rich people not leaving big tips to (relatively well-paid) service personnel.

And frankly, I think it's quite silly starting a thread on a forum just to talk about how little this one famous guy was tipping at this one occasion.

[/ QUOTE ]I agree. Except we're not saying he should tip excessively, we're saying he should tip appropriately and I don't find $100 appropriate.

This thread is just more proof how downhill this forum has gone.

Arguing about any thing....

Any tip is a good tip, it's not their $ . (end of fkn story)

If I would have won the 7.5 mill, my tip would have been 75k, and that is fine IMHO.

Oh well, I get your point. A tip of a few grand or so would have been more appropriate and $100 seems a little odd given the occasion. I just don't think this is a very big deal.

I think $7.5 mil is such a ridicolous amount of money that ANY tipping amount would be wierd, one way or the other... I mean, if you tip $100 that's decent money for the job, but an extremely small part of the win. OTOH, if you tip a few percent of your win, that would be hundreds of thousands of dollars, which IMO is a bizarre amount to give as a tip and in no way in proportion to the service. Or perhaps it's just me never having been to Vegas...

which is what he should have done, seeing as how the dealers were already getting a huge cut of the prize pool.

This would be like going to a restraunt with a party of 8 people, where the tip is already tacked onto the bill since its a large party. Should you then tip more just becase you are supposed to tip? Sure if you really want to. But would you call anyone that didnt a cheap ass, I sure as hell wouldn't.

I agree with the person who said it would be a bigger crime to not give any of the winnings to charity than it would be to tip a bunch of people for doing a job they are already well paid at.

And [censored], the one poster said one dealer got 12K!! Twelve [censored] K. I was in the WSOP and thats 12K more than I got. I would laugh in the face of any dealer who felt I owed them more than that.
