it would depend on what limit you play.
Party bonus at 10x = $0.10 in value per hand. For WPEX it depends on how loose a player you are because I believe it is done the 'contributed to pot' way. So if you are 13/6 then you are likely not contributing as much rake (thus not getting as much RB) as someone else who is 21/15. This isn't definite though because it also depends on how much you chase to the river. You would just have to make comparisons based on YOUR play there. If you play 1k hands at WPEX and 600 of them are raked you know you would have been getting $60 worth of bonus-cleared on a reload at party. Then compare with how much you get back based on the way YOU actually played at WPEX. Rough-estimate calcs are possible I suppose as many of the 2+2 TAG's play similarly. |

I know that I just use the 'quick reply' option and it replies to the last post. Sometimes, it causes a little confusion.

I agree. Limits and style are huge variables in this equation, no doubt.
I think it is most definitely a contributed rake situation which brings up and interesting situation in which wild maniacs who suffer large swings would see a ton of rakeback, thus almost re-enforcing their style of play. I'm just trying to figure out if a nice easy 5X bonus (non-contributed) would actually be better than 100% rakeback since I play pretty tight. I know long term I should be playing on this site, but there are still tons of juicy bonuses out there and I wonder if 100% rakeback beats some, all, or most of the deals. Some of the B2B bonuses seem like they would be better than 100% rakeback for a TAG player. |

Still a deposit bonus? Please post link. The former link is not working. Thanks.

Anyone know how many bb/100 a hundred percent rakeback is at various levels? [/ QUOTE ] it's worth 2bb/100 at 5/10 6max according to my calculations, which could be wrong though. Anyway, I didn't even realize it was that high! WSEX here I come! |

Be careful how you fund the account. I signed up with a new account, and thought I read all the fine print. I used the Insta Debit option. I tried to play and got an "insufficient funds error". When I contacted their customer service, they pointed me to this which is burried on their site:
[ QUOTE ] Funds initially deposited via Insta Debit will not be available for wagering in the Poker room for 48 hours, we are sorry for the inconvenience. [/ QUOTE ] I guess they want me to sports bet for 2 days before I can play poker. |

Or yet unlaunched poker site game designers...such as myself. =)
Hey, don't get me wrong. NH on there part. They're standing outside a Starbucks handing out free coffee, trying to get you to come shop in their mall. I'm cheesed because instead of being the most generous site for players, we're going to have to settle for 2nd. I'm glad that players who play for a living have a new place to go, actually. And I don't mind that they are stirring it up, because we started our venture with the same mindset. As a stand alone, we can't go to their extreme obviously, but we still can't wait to show off what we're building to you folks. Just irked that we weren't the first to focus on rewards. =) |

I kind of know Syn-Exp via PM and am familiar with some of opinions and it would really surprise me if he was attacking you in the way you were thinking. I think he was just addressing the 'thread in general'. [/ QUOTE ] I feel like I have been comfortable here with S.E. since I showed up as well. his attack on me seemed out of his character and IMO he took what was merely a half-joke and took it way too seriously and personally. Anyone who's been here for a while knows that I am not at all involved in the affiliate/rakeback thing. in fact my past tiffs with Morgant demonstrate my disapproval of any conflict of interest in the online poker world, so any accusation to me of the same comes as much surprise to me. for the record, I have absolutely no stake in whether people play at WPEX or not. if 100% rakeback is your m.o. then by all means give it a shot and tell others to do the same. and if this promotion wakes the competition up a little, I say god bless 'em. my contribution to this topic is to discuss the "strange" style of play (LHE tables only, I don't think it affects NL) that you may or may not have seen exhibited in people's early goings at this site (I for the record have had an account there for about a full year now). for simplicity sake, we won't even use a derogatory term to describe these players from now on. anyway, if you ignore some of the exaggerated ranting at the top of the BW link originally posted, you see that there is some useful development (again, IMO) in the concepts at the end, and I added my analyses towards the bottom of the thread (you guys know my BW name, right? hint: it's not 'Guacamole'). ultimately the conclusion is these "strange" maniac players are theoretically beatable, and not worth an outrage. if it was a big deal then I'm sure we would have tried to take steeper measures with WPEX back in July 2005. but being a no-name site with a crappy contributed-raked hand bonus at the time, nobody really thought it was worth the effort. and beating these "weird" players didn't make up for better bonuses, rakeback and/or softer, more predictable competition at other sites, so I'm guessing most of us just left. that's why there was only one thread on the subject ever. because it simply wasn't a big enough deal at the time. I am also a standing member of the WSEX sportsbook, and I have trusted (and will continue to trust) them with thousands of my own dollars. I have no desire to see this company go down, and I see no reason why this rake-free idea won't work as long as it's fiscally viable to do so. take the tidbits in the BW thread as you will - I would want you guys to make as much money from these f*cks on top of getting all that rakeback, believe me. it's my hope that this early data (and whatever may come up later as a result of it) can be of assistance to any of you visiting WPEX for the first time this week. if you still think this is worth a flame, I have already accepted that possibility when posting this, so do as you will. I promise to leave you guys alone from this point on, ok? |

I would be very happy to play at a site full of 2+2ers that has no rake. You overestimate how good the average poster here is. [/ QUOTE ] |
