You pour about half a pint of Guinness, and then a shot comprised of half Bailey's, half Jamison. You drop the shot into the Guinness and chug the whole thing before the Bailey's goes unpleasant. It's a remarkably tasty drink, even if the name is a bit unfortunate. I got a bit of a history lesson once when I ordered a black and tan near an Irish girl who was studying in the states, so the car bomb isn't the only offender.
