Once one trade happens at a lower execution, there's generally buyers still willing to purchase at your stop price. That's why the stop price is the same price as the limit sell price. Stop loss is uglier as it involves a market order, which can lose you a chunk especially if it's a low volume symbol. Useful if you just absolutely need to dump something, but for most people I hardly ever recommend using one (any type of market order, really).
