Why does this have to be made out to be something more than it is? I have many such moments (not related to religion), but I recognize them for what they are - a glitch in the matrix. It seems foolish to me to base a worldview on it - although I can understand the reasons given the rarity of such an experience of sudden insight. It seems special and non-random.
