[ QUOTE ]
Just watched Dan Bitel's vid and a couple of questions... 1) Dan seems pretty intent on getting AK AI PF - what is the general consensus on this? I was under the impression that these days at 25NL, it is -EV to get it AI PF with AK... E.g. semi-bad TAG raises 4xBB, you 3-bet AK from the Button, he 4-bets - do you shove/call/fold... [/ QUOTE ] You shove if your opponent does this with more hands than AA,KK. An unknown at NL25 will almost never do this, though, unless it's a short stack. So standard for NL25 would be fold. In fact, I fold plenty of AK in that situation at NL50 and I feel good about it. Of course, once you have a read this gets easier and as soon as I have such a read I push plenty of AK. Dan's usual games are a bit higher than NL25 and in those games an unknown is more likely to be 4-betting a wider range than AA,KK so the standard play becomes to get it in unless you have a read to the opposite. [ QUOTE ] 2) Dan makes a couple of examples of 3-betting light against TAGs - I realise that this is a difficult skill, and should be treated with caution, but I think that it can be used profitably at 25NL - my question is - folded to 18/15 who raises 4xBB from the c/o (you have seen him raising a lot IP and so he has a pretty wide range) - you have 89s OTB and 3-bet him. He calls (so flop is HU) and the flop comes A) A42r B) J75r C) 245 with 2 of our suit - TAG checks - what is you plan on each flop. - The reason I ask this is that c-bets get very expensive in 3-bet pots and so I think it is much more important to pick your spots than in non-3-bet pots. [/ QUOTE ] I think we all go through several stages in our cbetting, possibly several times over until we get to something that we are comfortable with. The "cbet everything" stage is not the end of it. Neither is my current stage of cbetting very selectively, which would lead me to cbetting only C as a semi-bluff. Edit: I would like to add that I probably wouldn't 3bet 89 pre-flop if I had no read on my opponent's post-flop play. If I have such a read it could very well be that I would cbet either of the first ones, too. My choice for only C is based on the limited information you gave. |
