I'm certain this is the case. Top players who start at a later age are very rare. I don't know why it's harder to pick up and master as an adult, but the friends in my golf circle who are the best all tended to play junior golf 20+ years ago.

It's much easier when you're younger because you do less thinking. As you get older, you start worrying about all of the moving parts. Throw in the fact that when you're 12 years old, you don't realize that you aren't supposed to make everything within six feet.

Not too many youngsters have the yips.
