Default Re: Showboat Poker Tourney

The satellites are never run 11 handed. That is the most rediculous thing I have ever heard and it is not true at all. Who ever posted that is a big fat liar. He prolly works for Borgata.

The Turbo satellites are turbo for a reason. They take about an hour of your time. They do start with 1ooo in chips and the blinds start at 25-50. They are 10 minute blind rounds. Everyone that plays them loves them, in fact some people play more than one for their chance to take a seat. It's 30 dollars for a chance to win a $250 seat into a decent guarantee tournament. Even if you play 8 satellites you are still in the positive for 10 bucks, and if you can't take down a seat in 8 satellites then you prolly shouldn't even be playing in a big tournament like this.

Also, I heard a couple people comparing this tournament to the guarantee tournaments that Tropicana ran. If Tropicana didn't make their numbers to break even they would take the difference out of the prize pool and second place could go home with $150 bucks in a $10,000 guarantee tourney. That is not the case with this one at SHowboat. The management has assured me that the prize pool will stay filled and the casino will make up the difference if they are short players.

With all the hype this tournament is generating in Atlantic City, I am sure it will sell out, and the $20,000 guarantee will be met and surpassed.

They are taking registration for the seats now, and people are buying them up. The Satellites are running all day in the room, mostly during the day though, since their 7 PM tournament usually fills their room up.

Posters who are complaining about the double vig are just good examples of poker players who will complain about anything, and we have all had run in's with those kind of people. What do you care about the casino taking money twice? It's really only 5 bucks extra in vigs out of your pocket, the rest is eaten up by the players who don't take down the seat.

To sum my rambling up, the satellites are great. Go up to Showboat and try one. If you can't get into a satellite or if you just don't want to play one then buy your seat outright. It is only $250 bucks. I have blown through that in two hands on a 1-2 game.
