[ QUOTE ]
From The Godfather: The wedding scene where the women are sitting at a table, discussing the size of Sonny's dick. It's just tacky and out of place and goofy. [/ QUOTE ] But it's pretty much straight out of the novel; ongoing subplot from beginning to end. Charlie Sheen came perilously close to making both Wall St & Platoon unwatchable, but on the other hand he was perfectly cast for what those characters were supposed to be, IMO. Worst line in Wall Street: "Don't go against Gordon, Bud. He'll crush you." Also LOL at Bud lighting up in the hospital room. Riiiight, even back then. Worst part of Platoon: The ridiculous overkill when Dafoe gets shot thirty bazillion times before he dies. Godfather & Training Day also have this problem. But I've never hated anything like I hated the voiceover in Little Children. Most confusing moment for me is in Goodfellas. Tommy: "Yeah, you'll be late for your own [censored] funeral" then blows Slats brains all over the bed. Then to Carbone, "Make that coffee to go, huh?" and then "I was joking!" and then they leave, and THEN it cuts to a slo-mo of him shooting Slats 3-4 more times?? Am I remembering this right? Always bugged me even though it's one of my top five films, and I was still reeling from "funny how?" when I first saw this scene. And I do think the Jewish rich kid Henry pistol-whipped in front of two witnesses might've called the cops, too. And actually Elaine Bracco bugged me the whole way, as she always does. Terrible casting IMO. No chemistry w/Liotta, at least til the end when they're dependent/trapped together. Nothing to explain how they went from the first date to OMG soulmates. And this is a five-star HOF movie, too. Haven't read the whole thread, but I'm sure someone mentioned "I'll see you at the club" fairly quickly. |
