In the Northwest (and most places, it seems), NASCAR is certainly associated with trashy, but is that necessarily so everywhere, e.g., the south? When I was in South Carolina we went to a high-end after-work type of place, and every TV had NASCAR on it. You would never see NASCAR on in the same category of bar in the Northwest. Seeing that, I just assumed a much higher percentage of people in South Carolina liked NASCAR, many being not trashy in the least. I guess that assumption also assumes that one doesn't consider everyone in the south rednecks.
